The maximum marks which can be attained is 800 and although there are only 4 sections, the marks are calculated for each of the 4 sections, along with an added score of the 2 sections of Quantitative Aptitude and the Verbal Ability combined. Hence, in total there are 5 components as the scoring elements. These 5 components make up the final score. The marks of the other sections are considered separately.

There are no Eligibility Criteria set for GMAT Exam by the GMAC. However, you should always meet the university/college admission criteria that you have to meet after you have been awarded the GMAT.
GMAT Age Criteria :
- A student who wants to appear for the GMAT exam has to be over 18 years old.
- The GMAC has not given any upper age limit for any student who opts to appear for GMAT Exam
- If any student is between 13 to 17 years old then they should have a written consent letter from their parents to appear for the exam.
Educational Qualification For The GMAT Exam:
- There is no official statement regarding the qualifications needed to appear for the GMAT exam by the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC).
