The International Islamic University Malaysia, a public university in Malaysia, is based in Gombak, Selangor. Apart from its headquarters, IIUM has six additional campuses spread across Malaysia. These include two campuses with a focus on medical studies, a Centre for Foundation Studies in Gambang, Pahang, two city campuses in Kuala Lumpur, and a language and tourism campus in Pagoh, Johor.
On 23 May 1983, the university was established with a strong emphasis on Islamic principles. By infusing Islamic values into all areas of study, the university cultivates a well-rounded educational environment. IIUM provides a diverse range of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs through its 14 faculties or "Kulliyyah" ("Kulliyyat", in plural).
The university receives sponsorship from eight governments and the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It should be noted that it is separate from the International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan, as well as the International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Over the years, IIUM has been successful in producing over 70,000 graduates and undergraduates from various countries across the globe since 1987. Majority of these students hailed from Malaysia.

IIUM's main campus in Gombak, Selangor spans a massive 700-acre (2.8 km²) area and is complemented by six other campuses. Kuantan, Pahang houses three of these campuses, including the Centre for Foundation Studies in Gambang, the medical-centric campus in Bandar Indera Mahkota, and the clinical campus near Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. The remaining campuses are located in Kuala Lumpur, with two city campuses at Persiaran Duta and Jalan Damansara, and in Bandar Universiti Pagoh, Johor.
